Chandigarh, August 12:
The Social Justice, Empowerment and Minorities Minister Dr. Baljit Kaur has expressed deep gratitude to the Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann and the State Cabinet for allotting medical college to Malerkotla and an agricultural college at Kalanaur in Gurdaspur.
The Minister said that with the medical college coming up in Kot Sherwani area, the people hailing from Sangrur, Patiala, Ludhiana and nearby areas would benefit a lot besides reducing the pressure on the Government Medical college at Patiala. The upcoming medical college would cater to the entire State especially the Malwa region by providing quality healthcare and medical education thus making up the deficiency of doctors. The initiative would afford a chance to the students from Punjab to study near their homes.
Punjab is primarily an agrarian state hence the agricultural college at Kalanaur would not only provide modern education related to the agricultural sector but also go a long way in putting the vocation of agriculture on the road to modernity especially in the border regions, said Dr. Baljit Kaur adding such institutions are the need of the hour in areas close to the border. The State Government is firmly dedicated to fasten the pace of overall development of Punjab as well as carry out the pro people initiatives, added Dr. Baljit Kaur.
