Cabinet Sub Committee on mining finalises report, to be submitted to Chief Minister in 2 days: Sidhu

Chandigarh, April 26, 2018: The cabinet sub-committee on mining today gave finishing touches to its report in a meeting held here at Punjab Municipal Bhawan. The report would be submitted to the Chief Minister in 2 days. It was also decided in the meeting that sand would be provided to the people at reasonable rates and the final decision with regard to the prices would be taken by the Chief Minister. This was disclosed by the Chairman of the committee and the Local Government Minister Mr. Navjot Singh Sidhu here today after the meeting.

Today’s meeting also saw participation of committee members Finance Minister Mr. Manpreet Singh Badal, Rural Development & Panchayat Minister Mr. Tript Rajinder Singh Bajwa and the newly inducted Minister for Mining and Geology Mr. Sukhbinder Singh Sarkaria. The team which visited Telangana and Andhra Pradesh along with Mr. Sidhu recently threw light on the mining policy being pursued by these states. Brainstorming deliberations took place on the mining policy of the 2 above mentioned states with every aspect coming in for minute discussions. Apart from this, the facts received during Hoshiarpur visit pertaining to the framing of crusher policy were also discussed.

Among others present today included Principal Secretary Mines Mr. Jaspal Singh, Director Mr. Kumar Rahul, Additional Secretary Mr. Vineet Kumar, Advisor to Mr. Sidhu-Mr. Angad Sohi and OSD to Minister Mr. Tript Rajinder Singh Bajwa-Mr. Gurdarshan Singh Bahia.
