Meanwhile, Sikh political leaders in Canada have come out to criticize the Punjab government’s action on now fugitive Khalistan supporter Amritpal Singh.
But, just as quick as these politicians shared their concern over the developments in Punjab they faced backlash from the Indians.
Leading the comments and reaction was Canada NDP leader Jagmeet Singh.
I am calling on Justin Trudeau and the Liberal government to immediately contact their Indian counterparts to express concern regarding the suspension of civil liberties and the safety of Canadians abroad.

There was immediate backlash to his comments, where Twitter users told him to “mind his own business”, “not interfere in the internal matter of India”, and “you are one of terrorist supporter”.
