Chandigarh, Feb 6: A day after Punjab chief minister Capt Amarinder Singh said he will reappoint retired IAS officer Suresh Kumar as his chief principal secretary, he met Kumar at the latter’s Sector 16 residence in Chandigarh on Sunday.
Last month, the Punjab and Haryana high court had quashed Kumar’s appointment terming it unconstitutional. The CM, whose meeting with the retired officer of the 1983-batch was second in the last nine days, came visiting without his usual convoy.
The CM talked to Kumar for at least one hour to placate him to join back the government. The CM on Saturday had said as long as he was the CM, Kumar will be his chief principal secretary and will not join as an adviser, adding that the government is filing an appeal against the HC order.
Kumar had earlier announced that he will not join back the government in any capacity. Kumar is learnt to have raised his grouse before the CM in the Sunday meeting that advocate general Atul Nanda failed to defend his case in the high court.
