Chandigarh, June 1
The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) MLA and state Youth Wing president Gurmeet Singh Meet Hayer, while commenting on the recommendation to appoint Congress MLA Fateh Jung Singh Bajwa’s son as deputy superintendent of police (DSP) and MLA Rakesh Pandey’s son as Tehsildar, said that Captain Amarinder Singh was fulfilling promise of ‘Ghar-Ghar Rozgar’ by giving government jobs to Congress leaders’ sons and daughters, while the sons and daughters of the common people of Punjab were being humiliated in the name of job fairs. In a statement issued from the party headquarters here on Tuesday, Meet Hayer said that the family members of Shaheed Udham Singh, who gave his life for the country, were forced to work on wages.
“The Captain government did not take stock of this patriotic family, but the sons of Congress MLAs killed in terrorist attacks are being given big jobs,” said Hayer. However, the matter related to Beant Singh’s grandson, who was directly appointed as a DSP by circumventing the rules in 2017, was still pending in the High Court, he added. Hayer said that the reason for giving jobs of DSP and Tehsildar to the sons of the MLAs by the Captain Amarinder Singh-led Congress government was that the father of both the MLAs was killed in terrorist attacks. Taking a dig at Captain Amarinder Singh, Hayer asked as to how many sons and daughters of ordinary families killed in terrorist attacks had been given government jobs by Captain. He said that government jobs were needed by ordinary families and not by the families of billionaire MLAs.
The AAP leader alleged that Captain Amarinder Singh was bargaining by giving government jobs to the sons of Congress MLAs in an attempt to quell the revolt against him in the Congress party. He said that if the sons of these MLAs had to be given jobs due to deaths in terrorist attacks, then why the Captain government was asleep for four years. “In fact, due to the breach of promise made by the Captain government to the people of Punjab, the Congress leaders have started grabbing Captain’s seat and Captain is bargaining to save his seat by giving jobs to the sons of these MLAs,” he added.
