Captain government’s claim to provide jobs to 16.29 lakh youth in Punjab, a bundle of lies: Meet Hayer

Date:

Chandigarh, June 23

The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) MLA and Youth Wing state president Gurmeet Singh Meet Hayer and AAP leader advocate Dinesh Chadha termed the claims of the Captain Amarinder Singh-led Congress government to provide jobs to 16.29 lakh youth of the state as a bundle of lies. They said that the Captain government had tried to fool the people of Punjab by putting up job advertisement boards all over Punjab, which the people of Punjab would surely take into account in the 2022 Assembly elections. Disclosing the information received under the RTI Act during a press conference held at the party headquarters here on Wednesday, Meet Hayer said that as per the information received from the Director, Department of Employment Generation and Training; the Congress government, which was claiming to provide Ghar-Ghar Rozgar to 16.29 lakh youth, has shown 9 lakh 97 thousand and 319 people in the bank loans.

Hayer said that whereas the Captain government claim also includes the number of students sitting in the Prime Minister’s Kaushal Vikas Yojna, Prime Minister’s Skill Development Mission and placements in various colleges. “Other than this, young men enlisted in the army are also included in the 16 lakh job claim of the government,” he added. Hayer said that these figures had exposed the biggest lie of Captain Amarinder Singh. Meet Hayer and Dinesh Chadha said that the Employment Department had categorically refused to make public the names of 16 lakh people of Punjab who got the jobs; as making them public would expose the lie. The leaders further said that the Department of Employment, in its information under RTI, has itself termed Captain Amarinder Singh’s Ghar Ghar Rozgar as a lie, which shows that the government also admits that the Congress party had given the youth a ‘political lie’ like a political ‘jumla’ to provide Ghar-Ghar Rozgar.

The AAP leaders said that although Captain Amarinder Singh had dreamed of giving employment allowances of Rs 2,500 to lakhs of people before the elections by making employment cards, but according to the information received under RTI, there were 134 people in 2017, 212 in year 2018, 97 in year 2019 and in 2020 only 42 people were given unemployment benefits. Challenging Chief Minister Captain Amarinder Singh, Meet Hayer said that if the Congress government has provided jobs to more than 16 lakh youth of Punjab, then they should make all the information about giving jobs public on the government website, so that the people can know the truth about giving jobs.
