Reacting to the Supreme Court’s decision to send gangster Mukhtar Ansari to jail, the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) said that the court’s decision is commendable. In a statement issued from the party headquarters, senior AAP leader and Leader of Opposition (LoP) in the Punjab Legislative Assembly, Harpal Singh Cheema said that UP’s notorious gangster was kept in jail in a minor case of Punjab. He said that it was under lot of doubt that why a criminal, who has many cases registered in different police stations of UP, was kept in Punjab for so many days. Cheema expressed doubt on the intention of Captain Amarinder Singh government as the election of 2022 is coming near and hence the Congress government was keeping Ansari in the jail of Punjab to spoil the election.
“Captain Amarinder Singh and Jail Minister Sukhjinder Singh Randhawa’s relations with Ansari are also under suspicion. It should be investigated, said Cheema. He said that the Congress government was giving protection to Mukhtar Ansari to commit hooliganism in Punjab and to spread violence. “There should be a CBI inquiry as to why the Punjab government wanted to keep such a big gangster in Punjab. Both the previous Akali government and the present Congress government are equally guilty for the rise of gangsters in Punjab,” he added. Cheema further said that the unemployed youth of Punjab were being pushed in the wrong direction for their personal gain. He said that the Akali and Congress can fall to any extent to win the election. Cheema said that the Congress leaders should tell as to what their relationship is with Mukhtar Ansari.
