Centre gives thumbs up to Punjab’s Aam Aadmi Clinics

The Government of India has hailed the state government led by the Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann for taking several path breaking initiatives to provide quality healthcare facilities to people.

The GOI regularly monitors the progress of NHM in the States through different mechanisms. The most important mechanism is Common Review Mission (CRM) undertaken every year. Under CRM, a team comprising of Government officials, Public Health Experts, Representative of Development Partners and Civil Society Organizations undertake the field visit in different States.

The focus of CRM is to assess the implementation of the programmes from Citizen Prospective. The 15th Common Review Mission Team comprising of 16 members under the leadership of Dr. A Raghu, Deputy Director General, AYUSH, MoHFW, GoI visited the State from November 4-11 during which it visited the districts of Ferozepur & Rupnagar.

Expressing complete satisfaction over the initiatives being taken by the state government. The team lauded the state by asserting that Institutional delivery in the State is quiet good and diet was being provided to pregnant women in all facilities and most of the women received JSY Payments via DBT. Similarly Family planning commodities were available in most of the facilities. Family participatory care was being practiced at District Hospitals. Breast Feeding corners have been established in District Hospitals. RBSK screenings are being conducted at AWCs & government and government aided schools and children are provided services free of cost.

It was also observed that Vaccination services are available through outreach camps (Mamta Diwas) & at all health facilities upto SC-HWC level. ASHA mobilizes mothers & children to the session sites for vaccination. Most mothers are aware about the vaccination services. UMANG Clinics are operational in the State dedicated to adolescent health, sanitary napkins were found to be distributed at SC-HWC & AWC.

The CRM also noted that The state has met the target for operationalization of HWCs with CHOs in place. Well maintained clinics, manned by MBBS doctor and a team of paramedical staff. Paperless system of reporting and recording patient data is available. Availability of various lab tests and medicines free of cost at the Aam Admi Clinics is contributing to the high patient OPD. Good Community awareness & utilization of 108 ambulance service. Functional MMUs to reach out to the slum, far-flung and difficult areas.

Adequate Knowledge & practice of various health IT portals /apps by staff is available up to SHC level.

Motivated Field level health functionaries and regular outreach activities were observed.

Meanwhile Secretary Health, Punjab Sh. Ajoy Sharma and Mission Director, National Health Mission, Punjab Dr. Abhinav Trikha felicitated the team members with a token of respect on the occasion. Director Health Services Dr. Ranjit Singh Ghotra, Director Family Welfare Dr. Ravinder Pal Kaur, Director National Health Mission, Punjab Dr. Satinderpal Singh, other senior officials, and program officers of the health department were present.
