Centre notifies appointment of 14 more judges in three High Courts

Date:

New Delhi, October 13

The Centre on Wednesday notified the appointments of 14 judges to the high courts of Telangana, Kerala and Orissa which will get seven, four and three judges, respectively.

This is the fourth set of appointments notified by the Government following the recent recommendations made by the Supreme Court collegium to fill judicial vacancies in various high courts – most of which have been functioning with lesser number of judges compared to their sanctioned strength.

On October 11, three advocates and two judicial officers were elevated as judges of the Rajasthan High Court. Similarly, on October 9, eight judges were elevated as chief justices of high courts and five high court chief justices were transferred based on recommendations made by the Supreme Court collegium.

Of seven appointed as judges of the Telangana High Court six were judicial officers while one was a judicial member of Income Tax Appellate Tribunal (ITAT).

They are: P Sree Sudha, C Sumalatha, G Radha Rani, M Laxman, N Tukaramji, and A Venkateshwara Reddy (judicial officers) and ITAT member P Madhavi Devi.

Those appointed as additional judges of the Kerala High Court were judicial officers CK Jayachandran, Sophy Thomas, PG Ajithkumar and CS Sudha.
