Centre rejects Punjab demand for subsidy on managing crop residue

Date:

New Delhi, November 10: Agriculture Minister Radha Mohan Singh has rejected Punjab and Haryana’s demand for a subsidy on management of crop residue.

Capt Amarinder Singh had written to Prime Minister Narendra Modi seeking compensation for dealing with crop residue.
Meanwhile, amid the stand-off between the Centre and Punjab on the issue of dealing with crop residue, Minister of State Mahesh Sharma also questioned the Kejriwal government’s “band-aid”-type odd-even formula for curbing pollution.

According to environmentalists, heavy vehicular traffic and factors like construction, road dust and domestic and industrial pollution were responsible for high levels of pollution in Delhi.
