CEO Punjab reviews progress of Special Summary Revision, SVEEP activities with field officers of Patiala division

Chandigarh, October 13: Working on large scale geographical locations as a team, it is essential to keep communication strong and keep everyone aligned with an overall larger goal. CEO, Punjab today held an in-depth review meeting with field officers comprising Election Tehsildars and SVEEP Nodal Officers from the Patiala division (Patiala, Fatehgarh Sahib, Sangrur, Ludhiana, Barnala and Patiala). Chaired by Additional CEO, Punjab, it was held to review the performance of Systematic Voters’ Education and Electoral Participation (SVEEP) activities in the previous quarter (July to September) and to discuss the plan for the next quarter.

In addition, the progress of ongoing Special Summary Revision of Electoral Rolls with reference to 01-01-2021 as the qualifying date was reviewed. It was aimed towards streamlining the entire process with effective use of technology and to mitigate the arising issues related to physical verification by Booth Level Officers (BLOs) in the wake of COVID-19 pandemic.

It is worth mentioning here that Call centre employees of Toll Free no, 1950 of CEO, Punjab at both head office and at district level have already been deployed to assist the Booth Level Officers (BLOs) in the verification work.

Paying heed to genuine issues faced by officers at the field level, Additional CEO, Punjab assured that the head office would handhold whenever & wherever required but field officers should take swift & proactive action in ensuring seamless execution of Special Summary Revision w.r.t to 2021, besides, finding ways to increase enrolment focusing on special categories – Trangender, Migrant workers, Persons with Disability (PwD), New Voters (18-19 years) and NRI.

Additional CEO, Punjab re-iterated the schedule of Special Summary Revision and instructed the field officers to ensure compliance and strictly adhere to the timelines of the pre-revision activities. It should be recalled that revision activities shall begin on 16.112020 with the Draft Roll publication. Period of filing claims and objections has been kept between 16.11.2020 to 15.12.2020. Claims & objections shall be disposed off by 05.01.2021 and final Electoral Roll shall be published on 15.01.2021.
