CBSE Class 12 results: Nation’s Toppers, Chandigarh’s pride

Date:

Chandigarh, May 28: The City Beautiful has surprised the nation in the CBSE Class 12 results. The country’s second and joint third positions have been bagged by Chandigarh students. To add to it, the commerce stream toppers in the country are also from Chandigarh schools.

Bhoomi Sawant, the tricity topper with 99.4 per cent marks, has bagged all-India rank 2. A student of DAV Public School, Sector 8, Bhoomi is from the non-medical stream and wants to be a computer science engineer. Last year, the tricity top spot was shared by Deepak Tiwari and Haneesh Aggarwal with 98.2 per cent marks.

Bhoomi scored 97 in English and a perfect 100 in physics, chemistry, mathematics and computer science. Bhoomi says, “The number of hours don’t matter; it is what you put into these hours that matters”.

Rank two in the tricity has been shared by two friends — Aditya Jain and Mannat Luthra — with 99.2 per cent marks in the commerce stream. Both were classmates in Bhawan Vidyalaya, Sector 27, had the same tuitions and are residents of Panchkula. They are also the commerce toppers in the country and tied at AIR rank 3. Mannat and Aditya both aspire to serve the nation by clearing the Civil Services examination.

Aditya wants to excel in economics and wants to be an economist. He wants to pursue economics (honours) from Delhi University.

Mannat on the other hand is focused on studies. She quit the social media the day she stepped into Class XII and believes in consistent hard work.

Rank 4 has been shared by three commerce students — Sanat Goyal, Saurav Gupta and Mehar Virk — with 99 per cent.

In the humanities stream, the top position in the tricity has been shared by Kritika Chaudhary, Pragati Sharma and Noor Kumar with 98.2 per cent marks. Kritika and Pragati are from Bhavan Vidyalaya, Sector 27, while Noor Kumar is a student of Carmel Convent School, Sector 9. Kaashvi of Bhavan Vidyalaya, Panchkula, is the tricity topper in the medical stream with 98.4 per cent marks. Jaskiran Harika, Principal of DAV Public School, was elated after she heard that Mannat had secured the second rank in India. “Not just Mannat, others have also performed well,” said Harika.
