Bansal reminded that the Congress had provided a large number of jobs to the city youth. He said Rajiv Gandhi Chandigarh Technology Park was an example of the Congress initiative towards development and employment where almost 51,000 youth were working.

Bansal was speaking to the youth from the city at his residence. He said it was time to work to make Chandigarh crime-free and restore its cleanliness, besides providing community parking in every sector.

After the Congress Central Election Committee cleared Bansal’s name for the Chandigarh Lok Sabha seat, there was a huge gathering of supporters at his house in Sector 28 to congratulate him.

Speaking to senior citizens and women representatives, who had come to greet him, Bansal said the city had slipped to the 20th position in the Swachh Survekshan-2019 due to “wrong policies” of the BJP. He said the Congress always maintained the beauty of the city, but the quality of life had suffered during the five-year rule of the BJP.

Bansal said he was committed to making the city number one again as far as civic amenities were concerned. He said city roads were broken, electricity and water problems were the bane of every sector, parking was a big issue and the BJP had done nothing on these issues during its five-year rule.
