Chandigarh: Traffic diversions for Republic Day

Chandigarh, January 24: In view of the Republic Day parade, the Chandigarh Police have announced traffic diversions to be imposed from 7 am till the function concludes on January 26.

A traffic police official said the road stretch from the Sector 16/17/22/23 roundabout to a small rotary near Gurdial Singh petrol pump, Sector 22-A, on Udyog Path, from the Sector 16/17 crossing to the Sector 16/17/22/23 roundabout on Jan Marg, and from the light point near Lyon’s Restaurant in Sector 17 till the Parade Ground would remain closed for vehicles from 7 am till the function at the venue gets over.

Parking of vehicles will not be allowed in front of shops in Sector 22-A from 7 am till the function gets over.
Special invitees having car parking labels on their vehicles will be allowed entry from the Sector 16/17/22/23 roundabout on Udyog Path and they will have to park their vehicles in the parking area in front of the market of Sector 22-A.

The general public can park their vehicles in the parking area of Sector 22-B, near Blood Disease Hospital in Sector 23-B, on the rear side of Neelam Cinema, in the parking lot of the Football Stadium and in the Circus Ground in Sector 17.

All buses coming from Haryana, Punjab, HP and other places to the ISBT, Sector 17, Chandigarh, shall be diverted towards ISBT Chowk from Kisan Bhawan Chowk and Piccadilly Chowk via Himalayan Marg and shall enter the ISBT, Sector 17, from the small chowk near Gurdial Singh petrol pump.

“Motorists are advised to use alternative routes while the Republic Day function is in progress,” said the traffic police official.
