Hoshiarpur/Chandigarh, May 6:
“Eco-Tourism has the capability to play a leading role in bolstering the economy of the State as well as creating ample avenues of employment”. These views were expressed today by the Food, Civil Supplies, Consumer Affairs and Forest Minister Mr. Lal Chand Kataruchak while taking stock of the Chohal Nature Awareness camp at Hoshiarpur.
The Minister said that no stone would be left unturned to ensure that the dream project of the Chief Minister S. Bhagwant Mann turns to be perfect in every way. He also divulged that he has come to inspect the progress of the project in a minute manner on the directions of the Chief Minister. He further added that the project would come up at the cost of Rs. 4 crore and would include a nature trail, adventure and water sports apart from setting up 5 tented accommodations. Besides, the local rest house would also be renovated.
Divulging more, the Minister said that the project would prove to be a centre of attraction for the tourists thus propelling it to the world tourism map. He further mentioned that globally, tourism is playing a yeoman’s role in strengthening the economies and it is the sincere endeavour of the Punjab Government to strengthen the economic structure of the State by capitalizing on the enormous opportunities available in the tourism sector.
The Minister on the occasion also visited the thana dam.
Among others present included the Revenue and Water Resources Minister Bram Shanker Jimpa, MLA from Tanda Urmur Jasvir Singh Raja Gill, PCCF Praveen Thind, CF (Hoshiarpur) Sanjeev Tiwari and other officers from the district administration.
