Closure of procurement of wheat in 169 temporary mandis of select districts

To ensure smooth procurement of wheat and avoid glut while ensuring maximum direct delivery of wheat to FCI from mandis, nearly 900 temporary purchase centers were notified in the State in addition to the regular mandis/mandi yards notified by Punjab Mandi Board.

After satisfactory completion of procurement of wheat in certain such temporary mandis of Barnala, Faridkot, Fatehgarh, Ferozepur, Ludhiana, Mansa, Patiala, Ropar, Sangrur, SAS Nagar, Moga and Jalandhar districts, 169 temporary mandies have been closed from today, informed a Government spokesperson.

Divulging further details, the spokesperson informed that 15 mandis in Barnala, 16 mandies in Faridkot , 2 mandis in Fatehgarh Sahib, 6 mandis in Ferozepur, 8 mandies in Ludhiana, 24 in Mansa, 33 in Patiala, 17 in Ropar, 28 in Sangrur, 3 in SAS Nagar, 15 in Moga and 2 in Jalandhar have been closed after the successful completion of procurement of wheat in the areas around these temporary mandis. Procurement shall continue in the remaining mandis in these Districts and all other districts.
