Chandigarh, January 2: Punjab Chief Minister Captain Amarinder Singh on Wednesday directed the Chief Secretary to prepare a detailed plan for renovation of infrastructure and other amenities at both the Main and Mini Secretariat office buildings.
The Chief Minister has also directed the Chief Secretary to expedite the process of digitisation of government files.
Appreciating the newly renovated seventh floor of the Mini Secretariat building, which he inspected today, Captain Amarinder Singh also asked the Secretary PWD to replicate the model floor work on both the buildings floor-wise, in a focussed manner, once the detailed plan is approved.
The Chief Minister also congratulated the Committee members overlooking the rehauling works, and asked them to ensure a conducive and seamless working environment for employees and staff members.
Reaffirming his personal commitment towards the welfare of employees, the Chief Minister assured that despite the tight financial situation, his government would provide all funds necessary for the upgradation of facilities required for proper discharge of duty by the employees.
It may be noted that the top floor of the Mini Secretariat, which houses the office rooms and branch offices of PWD, Water Supply and Sanitation, besides Water Resources and Mines and NRI Affairs departments, has been refurbished with all the modern facilities as a sample layout and would serve as a benchmark for the overhaul of the remaining floors of both the Secretariats.
On the occasion, Captain Amarinder Singh also interacted with the staff of Mini Secretariat and wished them a prosperous new year.
Exhorting them to work aggressively to complement the government’s efforts towards the state’s development, Captain Amarinder Singh assured them of all government support and assistance in the discharge of their service. Several of the employees requested the Chief Minister for selfies, which he willingly obliged.
Earlier, going around the seventh floor, Captain Amarinder visited the branch offices of Cooperation and Agriculture Departments and inspected the file storage mechanism.
Prominent amongst those present on the occasion were Chief Principal Secretary to CM Suresh Kumar, Chief Secretary Karan Avtar Singh, Principal Secretary to CM Tejveer Singh, Special Principal Secretary to CM Gurkirat Kirpal Singh, Home Secretary N S Kalsi, Secretary Water Supply and Sanitation Jaspreet Talwar, and Secretary PWD Hussan Lal.
