NEW DELHI, October 5: Seeking her personal intervention in the matter, Punjab Chief Minister Captain Amarinder has written to Union Minister of Textile Smriti Zubin Irani to direct the Cotton Corporation of India (CCI) to resume procurement of cotton from the state as per the established practice.
In his letter, the Chief Minister pointed out that he had had requested that CCI may be directed to procure/ purchase cotton through commission agents, as has been the established practice for the last many years. However, he expressed concern that they had not started the procurement, which should have begun on 1st October 2018.
“I would, therefore, once again seek your intervention in the matter to advise CCI to purchase cotton in keeping with the previous practice,” wrote Captain Amarinder.
The Chief Minister expressed the hope that the Minister would appreciate his concern and issue appropriate instructions to CCI immediately, according top priority to the matter.
