Chandigarh, 20 April
Senior leader of the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) and Finance Minister of Punjab Government, Harpal Singh Cheema said that the Mann Government is continuously taking historic and pro-people decisions for the welfare of the people of Punjab. Our government has fulfilled almost all its major election promises within just one year.
In a statement issued from the party headquarters on Thursday, Harpal Cheema said that in the first cabinet meeting itself, Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann decided to give 25,000 government jobs for the youth of Punjab. We also fulfilled the promise of providing 300 units of free electricity per month.
He said that as soon as the government was formed, we started rejuvenating the schools of Punjab. Now, like Delhi, schools of eminence are being built in Punjab as well. After studying in these schools, the children of Punjab will become doctors, engineers and officers. Teachers of government schools are being sent abroad for better training. This will improve the quality of education in schools.
Historical work has been done by our government in the field of health. As per our election promises, within a year, we have opened 500 Mohalla Clinics in Punjab, in which about twenty lakh patients got free treatment so far and more than five lakh patients received free health check-ups.
A big war is going on against corruption under the leadership of Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann. One by one, action is being taken against all the corrupt people and they are being sent to jail. He said that the SAD-BJP government established corruption and mafia rule in Punjab and they thrived under the Congress rule. But soon after coming to power, the Mann government has broken the backbone of the corrupt and mafia. The sand and liquor mafia has now ended in Punjab.
He said that AAP convenor Arvind Kejriwal had said that if any of our youth gets martyred on the borders of the country, we will give an amount of one crore to his family. We fulfilled this promise as well. We will soon fulfill the rest of the promises too. Not a single promise of ours will remain unfulfilled.
