Sangrur, November 13: Chief Minister Capt Amarinder Singh on Monday said his government had no role in the summoning of the Badals and actor Akshay Kumar by the SIT probing the 2015 sacrilege and police firing incidents.
“The SIT is an independent entity and functioning without any government interference. Our job was to form the SIT as was unanimously decided in the Vidhan Sabha. The onus of the investigation is solely on the SIT,” Capt Amarinder said, while answering queries by the media after the inauguration of Homi Bhabha Cancer Hospital here on Monday.
The Chief Minister, who is chairman of General Gurnam Singh Public School, Sangrur, inaugurated a solar power project on the school campus. The 120-KW project has been set up at a cost of Rs 52.80 lakh.
On norms concerning moisture content in paddy, he said: “The problem had arisen due to untimely and excessive rainfall just ahead of the harvest. I have already written to the Union Minister for Consumer Affairs, Food & Public Distribution to give additional 2 per cent of the MSP for drying the crop instead of 1 per cent.”
The CM said 588 more doctors would be posted shortly. “I am in favour of posting doctors closer to their place of residence to ensure effective functioning,” he said.
Regarding teachers’ protest, Capt Amarinder said the government had given a fair offer to them to either join regular services as probationers or continue on contract basis.
