Competitions of school students commenced under ‘Show and Tell’ theme

The school education department has started competitions at the school level under the theme ‘Show and Tell’ to highlight the English language talent of the students. The competition will run til May 25.

The Director SCERT Mr. Jagtar Singh Kularhian, informed that the school level competitions for the students of class VI to XII have started today and will continue till May 25. The competitions are being held online due to the closure of schools due to the Covid-19 epidemic. The aim of these competitions is to improve the English language standards of the students. He said that ‘Parho Punjab, Paraho Punjab’ program is being run to impart quality education to the students of government schools. Under this program, concrete efforts are being made to impart language proficiency to the students. During these competitions the English speaking, reading and writing skills of the students are being honored.

He said that the competitions of class VI was conducted on May 20 today while the contests of class VII and VIII will be held on May 21 and 22 respectively. Similarly, the competitions of IX and XI classes will be held on May 24 and X and XII classes will be held on May 25. The department has also directed the English and Social Studies District / Block Mentors to assist the concerned teachers during the competitions and to monitor the schools under their jurisdiction.
