Congress facing complete rout in Punjab, says Capt Amarinder

Date:

Patiala, February 20: Former Punjab Chief Minister Captain Amarinder Singh said Congress is going to face complete rout and will be wiped out from the state.

Speaking to media persons in Patiala after casting his vote, Punjab Lok Congress president Capt Amarinder Singh said, “I am certain of winning Patiala. They (Congress) live in a different and will be now wiped out in Punjab.”

Captain Amarinder Singh is seeking re-election from his home turf of Patiala.

Responding to questions on the outcome that the elections is going to have for Aam Aadmi Party, Capt Amarinder said Bhagwant Mann is an anti-national and he is supported by Arvind Kejriwal who has connections with extremist groups.

The former CM also said that his party is performing well and positive reports coming from the ground.

The state is in a multi-cornered contest this time, with Congress, Aam Aadmi Party, Shiromani Akali Dal-Bahujan Samaj Party alliance, and the coalition of Bharatiya Janata Party-Punjab Lok Congress as key players.

Chief Minister Charanjit Singh Channi, who is the Congress’s chief ministerial face, is contesting from two seats Chamkaur Sahib and Bhadaur.

Punjab Congress president Navjot Singh Sidhu is facing Akali Bikram Singh Majithia, AAP’s Jeevanjyot Kaur, and BJP’s Jagmohan Singh Raju in Amritsar (East).

AAP Lok Sabha MP from Sangrur and party’s CM face Bhagwant Mann is contesting from Dhuri seat.

Five-time Chief Minister and senior Shiromani Akali Dal leader Parkash Singh Badal is in the fray from his home constituency of Lambi, while SAD president Sukhbir Singh Badal is seeking re-election from Jalalabad. The BJP has pitted its Punjab unit chief Ashwani Kumar Sharma from Pathankot constituency.
