Congress govt failed to take any action against Badals: Meet Hayer

Date:

Chandigarh, May 10

The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) MLA and Punjab Youth Wing president Gurmeet Singh Meet Hayer said that the Congress government led by Captain Amarinder Singh was not taking any action against the Badals in land, sand, liquor, cable scams.  He said that it seems that only the Aam Aadmi Party will send the Badals to jail for their involvement in sacrilege and other cases. In a statement issued from the party headquarters here on Monday, Meet Hayer said that it seems like the Congress government has forgotten Punjab and the people of the state.  Even today, cable, sand, liquor, land mafia are openly operating as only those safeguarding them have changed, he added.

Hayer said that the Congress rebel leader and former minister Navjot Singh Sidhu was echoing the same sentiments that of the Aam Aadmi Party that the Badal family was running Captain Amarinder Singh‘s led Congress government. He said that in the other illegal cases, including the sacrilege of Sri Guru Granth Sahib, the Congress Government instead of taking strict action against the Badals was just busy doing a political drama. He alleged that the Congress MLAs were also involved in scams like sand, liquor, cable and scholarship. “A high-level investigation should be initiated against these MLAs.  But unfortunately, Captain Amarinder Singh will not take any action as along with the Badals, his party MLAs too would be put behind the bars,” said Hayer.

The AAP leader while coming down heavily on   Captain Amarinder Singh said that he had cheated the people of Punjab by not fulfilling the promises made to people before 2017.  Hayer said as a result, every section of the state was left on the receiving end and was forced to stage protests against the government. He said that the youth of Punjab were still waiting for Captian to provide them 20 lakh jobs, while the farmers were waiting for the loan waivers.

Hayer further said that due to the failure of the Captain-led Punjab Government, an emergency is announced in the state and the people are going through a very difficult time during the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic. “People are demonstrating for their demands to be fulfilled, but the Captain government has turned a deaf ear,” he added. Hayer claimed that the Captain government was playing with the emotions and expectations of the people of Punjab, but the people will definitely take account of the false promises made by Captain and will show them the way in the upcoming 2022 assembly elections.
