Chandigarh, May 12
The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) senior leader and Leader of Opposition (LoP) in the Punjab Assembly, Harpal Singh Cheema said that the Captain Amarinder Singh-led Congress government had not fulfilled its promises to the people of the state. He said that now, the government ministers and legislators were trying in vain to hide the failure of their government by infighting and doing drama of enmity, thus befooling the people. In a statement issued on Wednesday, regarding the ongoing infighting of the ruling Congress party, Cheema said that the Congress government had forgotten the people of Punjab and the state. “Today, along with the wrath of Covid, drug mafia, cable mafia, sand mafia, liquor mafia and land mafia are operating in the state without any fear,” he added.
Cheema said that Captain Amarinder Singh had sworn in Sri Gutka Sahib during the 2017 Assembly elections that with the formation of the Congress government in the state, the mafia rule would be eradicated and the accused of desecration of Sri Guru Granth Sahib and the killers of Sikhs would be put behind bars. He said when Captain Amarinder Singh had taken oath of Sri Gutka Sahib on the land of Malwa, the Congress leaders who are now ministers and MLAs in the ruling Congress government were also present. “These ministers and the MLAs have been sitting silent for four years and now that the Punjab Assembly elections are approaching, they have started making fake statements and dramatizing meetings to save their legitimacy,” added Cheema.
The LoP further said that these leaders were trying to save their chair and power during the Covid pandemic, instead of providing medical facilities to the people. Cheema said that Captain Amarinder Singh‘s government had done nothing against the sacrilege of the Guru, Behbal Kalan firing case, Scholarship scam and mafia rule. “Instead, the Congress ministers, MLAs and other leaders have partnered with the mafias and have given it government patronage,” he added. He said that the youth of Punjab were still waiting for the Captain’s 20 lakh jobs and the farmers were waiting for loan waiver. Cheema said that due to the lack of health services in the state, the Covid virus was killing the people. He said that the doctors, paramedical staff, teachers and other employees had been upset by the government’s unscrupulous orders. Therefore, the people of Punjab will demand accountability from Captain Amarinder Singh, his ministers, MLAs and the Congress leaders during the 2022 Assembly elections, he added.
