Congressmen lift trash from PM rally site

Date:

Gurdaspur, January 7: Gurdaspur Congress MLA Barindermeet Singh Pahra led a delegation of 80-odd party and municipal committee (MC) workers to the PUDA ground, the venue of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s rally on January 3, and cleared all trash from the venue.

The move came after The Tribune reported in its columns on Sunday that heaps of garbage was left behind by BJP workers after the PM’s rally.

As the area falls within the jurisdiction of the MC, the legislator asked its workforce to be present at the venue.

A JCB machine too was pressed into service.

Cabinet Minister Sukhjinder Singh Randhawa said, “Besides scrap, Modi gave nothing else to residents of Gurdaspur. In future, all political parties should deposit some amount of money with the MC so that its employees clean up the place after the rally.”
