Mohali, July 18: The Mohali police have got seven-day remand of gangster Dilpreet Singh Baba in the case pertaining to the attack on Punjabi singer Parmish Verma, 31, and his friend, Kulwant Singh Chahal, who were shot at in Mohali in April this year.
Dilpreet, who was brought to the Mohali district court on transit remand from Chandigarh, remained in the ambulance as he was unable to move due to the leg injuries he sustained in the brief encounter with the Chandigarh and Punjab police officials near the Inter State Bus Terminus at Sector 43B before he was arrested last Monday. As Dilpreet could not be taken to the court, judicial magistrate Ramandeep Kaur came down to the ambulance.
Mohali senior superintendent of police Kuldeep Singh Chahal said, “We have got seven-day remand of the gangster for investigation in the Parmish Verma attack case.”
Dilpreet was admitted to Mohali civil hospital after remand was granted. Senior medical officer Manjit Singh said, “He will remain admitted in the hospital for nursing care. A separate room has been prepared in the wake of security issues.” Sources in the civil hospital said that Dilpreet needs doctor’s observation as the bullet wound has not recovered properly.
“About 20 cops have been deployed for security. All the entry and exit points of the hospital are being guarded but at the same time we will ensure the persons visiting the hospital are not inconvenienced,” shared HS Atwal, superintendent of police, Mohali.
Meanwhile, the district and sessions court, Chandigarh, sent Dilpreet to 14-day judicial custody in the case pertaining to the murder of Satnam Singh, sarpanch of Khurd village in Hoshiarpur district, was shot dead outside the gurdwara on April 9, 2017.
