With the capping of the last date for the first dose of COVID-19 Vaccination for Health Department Officials till 19th February, a large number of employees are coming forward for getting the jab. Recently, it was decided by Punjab Government that first dose would be provided to Health Care workers only till 19th of this month. Ms Vini Mahajan, Chief Secretary Punjab disclosed that many senior administrative and health officers are getting vaccinated under the campaign. Prof. KK Talwar, former Director PGIMER Chandigarh and Advisor to Government of Punjab, Mr. Hussan Lal, Principal Secretary Health and Family Welfare, Punjab, Mr. DK Tewari Principal Secretary Medical Education & Research, Punjab, Prof. Raj Bahadur Vice Chancellor, Baba Farid University of Health Sciences, Faridkot, Prof. D K Singh, Executive Director AIIMS Bathinda, Dr. Om Parkash Gojra Director ESI, Dr. Areet Kaur Director National Health Mission, Punjab, Dr. Rajesh Bhaskar, Nodal officer COVID-19 Punjab, Dr. Avneet Kaur former Director Health Services, Punjab, Dr. Manpreet Chhatwal, Additional Project Director, Punjab State AIDS Control Society, Dr. Manisha, Consultant United Health Development Programme are among the health professionals who have already been inoculated. 13 Deputy Commissioners, 19 Senior Superintendent of Police, 19 Civil Surgeons, and many other prominent Senior Officers from respective district administration have also been vaccinated. As of now 71,121 health care workers and 17,350 Frontline workers have received inoculation in the State till date.
Ms. Vini Mahajan expressed that with coming forward of large number of senior Civil and Police officers as well as the Health Care workers, the myths and misgivings in the minds of people would clear and vaccination drive would get a greater push,” She also emphasized that the data of Punjab frontline workers whose offices are situated in Chandigarh be migrated at earliest so that they may also be quickly vaccinated by State Government.
She said that, with the kind of confidence shown by senior officers for the vaccination, a positive environment has been built-up, and the pace of vaccination will further pick up in the next few days.
