Chandigarh, Jan 16: A Mohali court on Monday sentenced former Punjab Public Service Commission (PPSC) chairman Ravinderpal Singh Sidhu aka Ravi Sidhu to seven years imprisonment in a disproportionate assets case.
The court also imposed a fine of Rs 75 lakh on Sidhu, who was convicted and sent to Ropar Jail on January 11.
The court had on January 11 had convicted him in the case related recovery of money from his and his close relations bank accounts in a private bank. The court also found him guilty in Solan property case where he allegedly forged documents to secure property in his name.
Other accused, namely Randhir Singh Dheera, Gurdeep Singh Manchanda, Surinder Kaur, Paramjeet Singh and Prem Sagar were acquitted by the court in this case.
The conviction was done under section 13(1)(e) and 13(2) of the Prevention of Corruption Act.
