Amritsar, November 21: Manmohan Singh Khalsa, one of the founders of radical group Dal Khalsa died at a hospital in London on Monday. He died of multiple organ failure. His mother lives in Chandigarh and his wife died a few years ago in the UK.
Party spokesperson Kanwar Pal Singh said his passing away was a great setback.
Khalsa went to the UK after the Union Government banned Dal Khalsa. He never returned as the government had placed his name on the “blacklist”. Damdami Taksal head Harnam Singh Khalsa and SGPC members Karnail Singh Panjoli and Kiranjot Kaur expressed grief on Khalsa’s demise.
Yesterday, the Dal Khalsa has asked the UN to give refugee status to another of its founders, Gajinder Singh. Gajinder, along with his colleagues, had hijacked an Indian plane on September 29, 1981. He is currently living in self-imposed exile at an undisclosed location.
