Death for all four convicts of ’08 Jaipur blasts that killed 80

Jaipur, December 20: In a trial lasting over 11 years, a special court here today pronounced capital punishment to four men convicted in the 2008 Jaipur serial bomb blasts that left 80 dead and 185 injured.

The court had on Wednesday convicted Saifur Rehman (23), Mohd Sarver (25), Salman (34) and Mohd Saif (21) under various sections, including of murder, treason, Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act and the Explosives Act.

Another accused, Shahbaz, was acquitted for lack of evidence. Judge Ajay Kumar Sharma pronounced the verdict amid tight security with the district courts being turned into a fortress. A fine of Rs 50,000 was also slapped on each of the convicts.
