Jalandhar, June 26: Senior Town Planners Parampal Singh and Monika Anand attended a meeting of the Municipal Corporation here on Monday, days after Local Bodies Minister Navjot Singh Sidhu had ordered their suspension for allowing gross irregularities in the construction of buildings in the city.
During the meeting, which witnessed complaints from several councillors about inaction against illegal buildings, Parampal Singh was the first to reply to a query regarding irregularities in the functioning of the building branch.
Sidhu had also ordered lodging of FIRs against the officers.
Parampal Singh said, “No order for my suspension has been issued so far. The minister has given the Mayor 15 days to submit a report. Until then, we are functioning as usual.”
A major demolition drive had been launched here after Sidhu cracked the whip on the officers, but it had been stalled after pressure mounted by Congress MLA Sushil Rinku as well as colonisers.
