50-year-old woman dies of dengue in Patiala

Nabha, October 23: A 50-year-old woman, Pal Kaur, a resident of Bouran Gate, Nabha, died of dengue at the Rajendra Hospital in Patiala, taking the total number of deaths to two in the past one week.

Deceased’s son Krishan Pal said his mother was suffering from fever for the past four days and she was admitted to a private hospital. He said as she was not improving, they shifted her to Rajendra Hospital after her platelets had gone down to 35,000 from 1,25,000.

He said his mother died in the wee hours of October 20.

SDM Jashanpreet Kaur Gill, along with officials of the Health Department and municipal committee, had visited the locality about a week ago. The SDM had also served notices to some of the residents for not removing water from their coolers.

Earlier, a 52-year-old woman, identified as Lalita Rani of Ranjit Nagar, had died of dengue at the PGI, Chandigarh.
