Dense fog: Out on educational trip, Sangrur teacher killed, 5 students hurt as bus collides with truck

Jalandhar, Jan 16: A government school teacher was killed and five students sustained injuries after a PRTC bus ferrying the students collided with a truck on National Highway-1 in Goraya town of the district on Tuesday morning.

According to the police, Gurcharan Singh, a teacher at Government Senior Secondary School, Sangrur, died on the spot while five students of the school were admitted to the local civil hospital with minor injuries.

Fifty students and three teachers of the school were on their way to the Kapurthala Science City for an educational trip.

Police said the accident took place around 9:30am due to dense fog as the speeding bus driver could not see the slow moving truck on the highway. The truck driver fled the spot.
