Chandigarh, October 31: Dera Sacha Sauda head Gurmeet Ram Rahim Singh’s son Jasmeet Singh has clarified that he has no aspiration to head the dera nor ever thought of it.
This is the first time since Ram Rahim’s conviction in two rape cases that his son has spoken. “My father and revered Guru saint Dr Gurmeet Ram Rahim Singh is the head of Dera Sacha Sauda and he will continue to remain so,” Jasmeet said in a statement issued in Sirsa on Tuesday.
“I have my heartfelt sympathies with the victims of unfortunate incidents that happened on August 25. The whole sequence of events has saddened me much. But before I could come out of deep pain and agony, a misinformation campaign about the transfer of the Guru gaddi started in a section of electronic and print media, compounding my pain and anguish,” Jasmeet said.
“Shah Mastana ji planted the sapling of Dera Sacha Sauda in 1948. He handed over its reins to Shah Satnam Singh ji, who driven by his love and affection for Gurmeet Ram Rahim named him the next dera head. He handed over the reins of the sect to him (Ram Rahim) in the presence of devotees. Since then, my father has worked for the welfare of humanity through 133 social welfare activities,” he added.
Jasmeet said he was pained more because unfounded stories were being floated about the pious Guru gaddi, which is responsible for the welfare activities. Despite trying times, dera followers were standing like a rock behind the sect and were performing social welfare activities as before, he added.
“I am confident that my father is innocent. We will soon get justice from the High Court and my father will be back amid us to carry forward dera’s traditions of service to the humanity,” he said. Jasmeet said his father was the head of the dera and would remain so in future too.
Earlier on Saturday, fearing arrest, Dera Sacha Sauda Management Committee chairperson Vipassana Insan handed over important Dera keys to Ram Rahim’s son Jasmeet Insan. Sources also say that Vipassana Insan , who was called for questioning by Panchkula Police on October 17, has sought a couple of days time to hand over complete Dera charge to Jasmeet Singh. She is believed to have told Jasmeet to take over the charge as soon as possible.
Meanwhile, Gurmeet Ram Rahim’s family, including his mother, wife, two daughters and son Jasmeet Singh, who had vacated their Dera homes after Section 144 was imposed in Sirsa have suddenly returned to Sirsa on Friday night. Now, according to sources, Dera is being decked-up to welcome Jasmeet Singh Insan as its caretaker chief.
