LUDHIANA/ CHANDIGARH, November 26:
Director General of Police (DGP) Punjab Dinkar Gupta on Thursday, reviewed the Crime and COVID-19 situation in the city at Police Lines here in Ludhiana.
DGP Gupta accompanied by Commissioner of Police (CP) Ludhiana Rakesh Agrawal and Inspector General of Police (IGP) Ludhiana Range Naunihal Singh was here to hold a review meeting with senior officials of the district. Joint Commissioner of Police Headquarters J. Elanchezhian, DCP Law and Order Ashwani Kapur, DCP Detective Simratpal Singh and DCP Traffic Sukhpal Singh among other senior police officials attended the meeting.
DGP Dinkar Gupta reviewed all undetected murder cases and directed Commissioner of Police Ludhiana to make fresh efforts to trace them. He directed a special drive be launched to unearth illegal weapons which were being used for commission of crime and also arrest proclaimed offenders.
DGP appreciated the drive of Ludhiana police to auction unclaimed old vehicles to free the space in police stations. He also appreciated the efforts of Ludhiana police in making the city beggar free.
DGP appreciated the efforts of the CP Ludhiana to combat the COVID-19 situation in the city and directed to be even more vigilant in coming days in wake of fear of second wave of Covid. He asked police officials to strictly enforce wearing of masks by public.
He also directed the Police Commissioner to deploy more police personnel in the traffic wing so that the traffic remains smooth in the city. The Director General of Police also listened to the suggestions of police officials sitting in the meeting regarding measures to improve delivery of police services to citizens.
