Chandigarh, December 16: Directorate of Census Operations, Punjab on Monday held Training programme of Master Trainers for the first phase of Census-2021 regarding House Listing & Housing Census and Updation of National Population Register at Mahatma Gandhi State Institute of Public Administration, Punjab (MGSIPA), here.
The 6-Day training programme of Master trainers of Punjab and U.T. Chandigarh was inaugurated by Special Chief Secretary-cum-FCR and Director General MGSIPA Mr. K.B.S. Sidhu and Director Census Operations Dr. Abhishek Jain.
During the inaugural session, Mr. Sidhu motivated all the trainers to play their vital role with utmost honesty in the National task of Census enumeration 2021. He also emphasized that integrity and accuracy of Census data should be maintained at all stages.
Dr. Abhishek Jain underlined the importance of Census as one of the world’s biggest administrative exercise. The Census 2021 marks a paradigm shift because for the first time the data will be collected through a specially designed mobile app, using Bring Your Own Device (BYOD) model to be followed by enumerators and supervisors, besides the monitoring of entire field operation will be done through Census Monitoring and Management System (CMMS). This will enable faster and direct uploading of data on the central server of Census Department.
The training is being conducted by a team of National Trainers of Punjab Government and Directorate of Census operations, Punjab. A spokesperson said that the module has been specially designed to provide hands-on training of census taking, including the use of mobile app. All the Master trainers will also visit the field to have a practical experience of Mobile app. These 42 Master trainers will further impart training to Field trainers in various districts of Punjab and U.T. Chandigarh during January and February next year. These Field trainers will further train enumerators and supervisors.
