Education department released 1.09 crore grant for smart staff rooms

On the instructions of Punjab education minister Mr. Vijay Inder Singla, the education department has released 1.09 crore grant for smart staff rooms. About 70% government schools have been converted into smart schools so far under the smart school policy.

Mr. Singla has taken this step in view of the suggestions made by the school heads in various meetings to create smart staff rooms on the lines of smart classrooms. A grant of Rs.3000 per staff room has been released for the renovation of staff rooms of all 3638 high and senior secondary schools in the state and the rest amount would be provided by the schools from their own resources. This amount will be used for furniture, windows, doors, Bala work, posting of pictures of great personalities, provision of racks, cupboards, electrical arrangements etc in the staff rooms.

According to a spokesperson of the education department, the department has provided Rs 6.81 lakh for 227 schools of Amritsar district, Rs 2.7 lakh for 90 schools of Barnala, Rs 6.06 lakh for 202 schools of Bathinda, Rs 2.55 lakh for 85 schools of Faridkot and Rs 2.43 lakh for 81 schools of Fatehgarh Sahib. Rs. 2.43 lakh for 147 schools of Fazilka, Rs. 4.75 lakh for 125 schools of Ferozepur and Rs. 6.21 lakh for 207 schools of Gurdaspur. According to the spokesperson Rs.2.07 lakh for 269 schools of Hoshiarpur district, Rs.8.19 lakh for 273 schools of Jalandhar, Rs.3.96 lakh for 232 schools of Kapurthala, Rs.10.29 lakh for 343 schools of Ludhiana, Rs.3.93 lakh for 131 schools of Mansa, Rs 5.04 lakh for 168 schools of Moga, Rs 4.59 lakh for 153 schools of Muktsar and Rs 2.43 lakh for 81 schools for Pathankot has been released. Similarly grant of Rs.6.09 lakh for 203 schools of Patiala district, Rs.3.42 lakh for 114 schools of Rupnagar, Rs. 3.15 lakh for 105 schools of SBS Nagar, Rs. 6.63 lakh for 221 schools of Sangrur, Rs 3.27 lakh for 109 schools of SAS Nagar and Rs 5.16 lakh for 172 schools of Tarn Taran has been released.
