Chandigarh, March 18: An employee of the Technical Education Department got departmental promotion after 20 years of his service that too with the intervention of the Punjab State Scheduled Castes Commission.
Disclosing this Mrs. Tejinder Kaur, Chairperson of the Commission said that Jaspal Singh joined the service in the ITI wing of the Technical Education Department in 1996 and he was eligible for promotion as per roster point after two years as he fulfilled all the requisite conditions.
She said that Jaspal Singh was ignored and a candidate of the general category was promoted against this reserved post. Jaspal Singh approached the SC Commission in 2015.
Commission handed over the inquiry in this matter to Mr. Gian Chand Diwali and the inquiry report indicated that the right of Jaspal Singh for promotion was just and he was wrongfully ignored for the promotion by the department.
Mrs. Tejinder Kaur said that based on the finding of the inquiry report the Commission directed the Technical Education Department on September 5th, 2019 to give promotion to aggrieved employee jaspal Singh from the date October 8th,1998 and submit the compliance report to the commission in this regard.
She said that that the Technical Education Department submitted its compliance report on March 17, 2020 and apprised the commission that Jaspal Singh has been promoted October 8th, 1998 to November 29, 2000 on notional pay and from November 30, 2000 he has been promoted against the reserved roster point as welding/fitting & plumbing.
