Chandigarh, January 23
Aam Aadmi Party’s (AAP) Punjab affairs co-in-charge Raghav Chadha has questioned Congress President Sonia Gandhi and Rahul Gandhi, saying that when former Chief Minister Captain Amarinder Singh accused Charanjit Singh Channi of running sand mafia and filed a written complaint against him, why did Congress did not take action against him? Chadha said instead of taking an action against Channi, the Congress leadership rewarded him and made chief minister.
Chadha questioned the top Congress leadership Sonia Gandhi and Rahul Gandhi that when they came to know that Channi was associated with the sand mafia, why made him the chief minister? Even after making Chief Minister, when crores of rupees and many unaccounted property papers were seized from Channi’s relatives in ED raid, why was not Channi suspended from the party? He raised the question whether the money of sand mafia is reaching the top Congress leadership as well, that is why they are refraining from taking action against Chief Minister Channi?
Chadha said that former Chief Minister of Punjab, Captain Amarinder Singh has issued a statement saying that when he was the Chief Minister, he had asked Congress President Sonia Gandhi to take an action against then minister Charanjit Singh Channi for his involvement in illegal mining in Chamkaur Sahib. Complaint was made in writing, but Sonia Gandhi and Rahul Gandhi, instead of taking action against Channi for sand mafia, rewarded Channi and made him chief minister. He said that if the top leadership of the Congress was concerned about the sand mafia, drugs mafia and other mafias in Punjab, it would not have named Charanjit Singh Channi, who patronage sand mafia, as the Chief Minister of Punjab.
On the serious allegations levelled against Chief Minister Channi by Akali leader Bikram Singh Majithia, Chadha said that Majithia has said that there is a nexus of Channi, his relatives Honey and Money and sand mafia is doing business worth crores of rupees. Majithia also alleged that the relatives of Chief Minister Channi are doing mining even in the forest department land, where excavation is not allowed. Majithia accused Channi of earning Rs 1111 crore in 111 days. Chadha asked Chief Minister Channi whether now he will file a defamation case against Bikram Majithia too, like he has against Aam Aadmi Party and Arvind Kejriwal?
Chadha said that a few weeks ago, we had exposed the sand mafia in Chamkaur Sahib, the assembly constituency of Chief Minister Channi and told the people of Punjab that sand mafia was being run here through Chief Minister Channi and his relatives. The crores of rupees found from Channi’s nephew’s house in the ED raids, have substantiated our allegations against CM Channi.
Chadha expressed surprise that only one nephew got Rs 11 crore from him. Don’t know how many more such relatives of the Chief Minister are there. If the raid is to at Chief Minister Channi’s house, it is difficult to guess how much money will be found. Chadha said that when Channi made so many crores in 111 days, if he had been the Chief Minister of Punjab for 5 years, then how much money he would have made. Chadha said that nowadays there is a new slogan in Punjab, “Gali gali mein shor hai, Channi reta chor hai”.
