Facing end of political career, Sukhbir has lost mental balance: Kangar

Date:

CHANDIGARH, JANUARY 24: Punjab Cabinet Minister Sardar Gurpreet Singh Kangar on Friday asserted that seeing his political end nearing Sukhbir has lost his mental balance and was making unfounded and illogical statements that too on an religious issue about which he had done nothing when in government.

For five years he never cared about Behbal Kallan, said Kangar adding that too when ironically Sukhbir had contested for Lok Sabha from Faridkot constituency. Kangar said he was extremely saddened by the demise of Surjit Singh and prayed to almighty to grant eternal peace to the departed soul.

Referring to Sukhbir’s desperate attempt through media to take political mileage after Surjit Singh’s natural death by making illogical statements against me, Kangar categorically clarified that neither he had ever met any member of the deceased’s family personally nor he had ever talked with them over phone.

Kangar said Surjit’s family had a personal issue with another village resident Majinder Singh. During October last year, electricity department had conducted surprise raids in the village to check electricity theft, during which Surjit’s family had also been fined. Surjit’s family had this feeling that Manjinder Singh had got this raid conducted on their house, said Kangar.

Kangar also here clarified that neither he had known Manjinder nor he had any relation with him.

Last year in April, I had joined Revenue Department after being relived from Power portfolio, said Kangar, adding he had nothing to do with his earlier department.

Kangar further said that its culprits who indulge in threatening witnesses not the applicants hence why would I pressurize the witness to backtrack from his statement.

“We have rather been fighting for justice in this case even before coming into the government and immediately upon joining office, we constituted Justice Ranjit Singh Commission.” The Commission Report has already been submitted in the Court and the matter is sub judice.

Besides this, action had already been initiated against several police officers found guilty in this case, including Akali leader Mantar Brar currently out on bail seen with Sukhbir at Surjit Singh’s home, Kangar added.

Kangar said that Sukhbir had never gone to Behbal Kallan to express remorse over incidents related to sacrilege of Sri Guru Granth Sahib Ji and was now indulging in petty political games by making false statements.

The real reason of this desperation is what BJP has done to SAD in Delhi, Kangar said, adding that SAD had not managed to get out of jolts given by Taksalis and now BJP had created fresh trouble for them.

Speaking on the occasion, MLA Faridkot Kushaldeep Singh Kiki Dhillon said that Sukhbir and his associates seem to have “some personal enmity against us”, which is why he is dragging their names without any reason.

Everyone knows how much truth Sukhbir speaks and a major proof of this is that Sukhbir had lied about Justice Ranjit Singh Commission on the floor of the Vidhan Sabha, following which privilege committee upon finding him guilty had written to Speaker to initiate action against him. Vidhan Sabha Speaker has already forwarded it to Lok Sabha Speaker for action, Dhillon added.

Both Zora Singh Commission and Ranjit Singh Commission had in their reports indicted Sukhbir and other Akali leaders for playing a negative role and we are hopeful that Court would deliver justice to us.

Both leaders challenged Sukhbir Badal to prove his statements, saying they would give up politics if Sukhbir proved whatever he says else he should quit politics.
