The Centre on Saturday clarified to state governments that family members and dependents of workers can also be covered during Covid-19 vaccination drives at workplaces.
In a letter to principal secretaries, health of states, the union health ministry joint secretary Vikas Sheel said, “Several queries have been raised regarding coverage of family members along with the workers at industrial and workplace Covid vaccination centres (CVCs). It is clarified that family members and dependents or workers can be covered. For industrial CVCs and private workplace CVCs, vaccine doses will have to be procured by private hospitals with whom the respective employer ties up for vaccination.”
The letter adds that for government workplaces CVCs beneficiaries aged 45 and above may be covered through free vaccine doses supplied by the Centre to the states.
“At government CVCs, the beneficiaries aged 18 to 44 years will have to be covered through vaccine doses procured directly by the state from the vaccine manufacturer,” said the letter.
