New Delhi, January 27
Delhi Police have so far lodged 22 FIRs in connection with the Republic Day violence case against nine farmer leaders, including Yogendra Yadav, Darshan Pal, Gurnam Charuni and others, with the charges of incitement, rioting and vandalism.
The police said so far 200 people had been detained under charges of rioting, damaging public property and attacking police personnel. The police stated that they are making arrests after due verifications.
According to police sources, nine ‘farmer leaders’ have been named so far in the FIRs for the Republic Day violence. They are Yogendra Yadav, Darshan Pal, Gurnam Charuni, Rajinder Singh, Balbir Singh Rajewal, Buta Singh Burjgil, Joginder Singh Ugrahan and Satnam Pannu. The FIR also mentions the name of BKU spokesperson Rakesh Tikait, they added.
The police have said the personnel are verifying phone cameras, CCTV and drone footages to identify rioters.
One of the FIRs, registered in Nangloi station, names at least 40 so-called ‘farmer leaders’, who were part of the negotiations with the government. Yogendra Yadav’s name features in that FIR too.
