Ferozepur MLA Bhullar visits Distt Library as ‘Reader of the Day’

Date:

Ferozepur, July 3, 2022: On Sunday, Ranbir Singh Bhullar, MLA Urban visited the District Library as ‘Reader of the Day’.

The lost glory of the District Library, which faced closure due to lack of funds, has been revived with the intervention of District Language Officer Jagdeep Singh Sandhu a few days back.

Added here, the district library at the Municipal Park has as many as 4,100 members and once used to be visited frequently by over a hundred people daily. But with the passage of time, it was neglected due to lack of basic infrastructure and paucity of funds.

It may also be recalled that MLA Bhullar on some occasions had announced to give a gift of books only on any occasion, to increase the readership.

The Library Welfare Society (LWS) working for the expansion and digitization of the District Library Ferozepur is continuously looking after the qualitative improvement of the library and the members of the society meet every Sunday. In today’s meeting, MLA Ranbir Singh Bhullar visited as ‘Reader of the Day’.

Discussions were held to ensure smooth running of the library and MLA Bhullar and members of the LWA, said about first engaging themselves with books, literature, language and culture, to be committed to its qualitative improvement. The Punjab Government is also moving very fast in this direction. He assured that in case of any problem in running the Library, he would liaise with the Punjab Government and the Deputy Commissioner, as well, to resolve it.
