Fine of Rs 15,34,000 on 472 shopkeepers for overpricing of masks and hand sanitizers

Legal Metrology wing of Punjab Consumer Affairs Department has conducted state wide checking drive. A total of1806 Shops & Chemist Shops have been checked throughout the state. Out of these, 472 establishments have been found indulging in malpractices . The department imposed penalty worth rupees 15,34,000 on them.

This was disclosed today by a spokesperson of the Consumer Affairs and Civil Supplies Department.

Spokesperson further said that the department has received 17 complaints regrading various malpractices in sale of goods. A swift action was taken to stop such nefarious activities.
