Chandigarh, 24 July: The Punjab Government today organized a first of its kind state level Webinar under the flagship scheme ‘Ghar Ghar Rozgar Yojana’ for the Youth of Punjab on the “Emerging Dynamics in Employment of Youth, Post Covid-19: Challenges and Opportunities” to create the awareness amongst the Youth of Punjab regarding changed scenario of employment, emerging sectors and employment opportunities, so that they can prepare themselves to meet the requirements of the industry and get employed. The Webinar got a huge response from the participants as more than 20 thousand youth participated and gained from the views presented by renowned experts of companies like Microsoft, Ansys, Walmart, Pepsico, Dell, Amazon & B&WSSC. Microsoft provided Technological support and platform for the Webinar by creating a Youtube Channel.
The Employment Generation Minister, Punjab Mr. Charanjit Singh Channi who himself participated in the Webinar, sharing his experience said that the department of employment Generation has taken a unique initiative to provide career counseling to the Youth of the state to aware and guide them about the challenges and opportunities in the employment sector post COVID-19. The Minister said that despite challenges due to the corona pandemic the department of Employment Generation, Skill Development and Training is striving hard to facilitate bright career opportunities to the Youth of state. The Employment Generation Minister also announced to organize such more Webinars regularly on various topics to facilitate youth of Punjab to provide them employment opportunities at national and international level.
Earlier the first session of the Webinar was held on ‘Demystifying ‘The new Normal’- Challenges and Opportunities’ in which experts Mr. Manish Prakash, Executive Director (Enterprise Public Sector)- MICROSOFT and Mr. Rafiq Somani, Area Vice President (India & South Asia Pacific) – ANSYS presented their views on the topic. Microsoft Asia Head Mr. Manish Prakash said that in the ten sectors mainly Online education, E-commerce, Pharma, IT, FMCG, Retail, Energy and Agro sector the job opportunities would be very high post covid-19 pandemic. He also said that Microsoft would provide best possible support to the Punjab Government in the various courses started by them in the sector of Artificial Intelligence in future. Second Panelist of the first session Mr. Rafiq Somani, Area Vice President (India & South Asia Pacific) – ANSYS said that youngsters need not to worry as the future would be very bright; the only need is that the youth should get themselves skilled in the various upcoming sectors.
The Second session of the webinar was held on ‘Staying Relevant through Changing Times to get Job Opportunities’ in which Panelists Ms. Leya Kurian, Director Software Eng. –DELL, Mr.P P Sunil, Acharaya, India Head Education- AMAZON, Ms.Monica Bahl, CEO- B & WSSC, Mr. Mrityunjay Pratap, Associate Director Sales – PEPSICO, Mr. Anand Vijay jha, Chief Public Policy Officer- WALMART INDIA provided valuable information to the youth of the state.
Mr. Rahul Tiwari Secretary, Department of Employment Generation, Skill Development & Training welcoming the panelists and participants said that the department would launch a state wide awareness drive through social media and other various platforms to facilitate youth in providing them jobs and self employment opportunities.
Director, Employment Generation Mr. Harpreet Singh Sudan thanked the panelists and requested them to support the Government of Punjab in all its initiatives for providing job opportunities and skill development to the youth of Punjab.
Dr. Sandeep Kaura, Advisor Skill Development and Technical Education moderated the first session and appealed to the global industry leaders to support the government of Punjab initiatives in providing best of the job opportunities and start up ecosystem for the youth of Punjab.
Mr. Navdeep Singh, Deputy CEO moderated the second session and interacted with the leaders and also invited them to join the upcoming job drives in the state for the youth in coming months.
