Folk fiesta at Kalagram mela in Chandigarh

Chandigarh, November 15: The magnificence of the Punjabi folk and contemporary music continued to enrapture visitors on the sixth day of the Chandigarh National Crafts Mela, organised by the UT Administration and the North Zone Cultural Centre, Patiala, in association with The Tribune group of publications at Kalagram, today.

The city-bred  young music composer and singer  B Praak, a disciple and son of famous music director Varinder Bachan, was the star attraction of the evening.

Paraak doled out many of his  popular hit songs. The audience, comprising young music lovers, relished songs like   “Kismat”, “Nikle current tere yaar chon” and  “Mastani hathh chumme”. He had composed and presented Punjabi songs in the Bollywood style.

Earlier, a nagada group from Palwal and a dhol group from Patiala created the festive fervour among music lovers. Folk dancers performed Bardwi Sikla of Assam,  Sidhi Dhamal of Gujarat, Faag of Haryana and Badhai from Madhya Pradesh, much to the delight of the audience.

Chief guest Mandeep Brar, Deputy commissioner, Chandigarh; Jatinder Yadav, Director, Cultural Affairs; and  NZCC Director Dr Saubhagya Vardhan graced the musical event in the evening.
