Following path illuminated by Guru Sahiban, State Government fully committed to ensure clean & green Punjab: Lal Chand Kataruchak

In keeping with the path illuminated by our Guru Sahiban, the Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann led State Government is leaving no stone unturned to ensure a clean and green Punjab. As part of this, the target of planting one crore saplings in the present year 2023-24 has been set so as to bring maximum area under Forest cover in the State.

It is the need of the hour to beautify besides plant fruit laden saplings on Phagwara – Chandigarh Road, Bathinda – Amritsar Road and the Sirhind route apart from displaying signboards depicting the type of saplings so as to accord an attractive look to these.

Presiding over a meeting at Forest Complex in Sector 68 at Mohali to review the functioning of the department, the Forests and Wildlife Preservation Minister Mr. Lal Chand Kataruchak emphasized that toilet facility must be provided at all the nurseries across the State. Proper care should be taken of the 54 lakh saplings planted throughput Punjab and the common people should be made part of the movement aimed at conserving the environment.

The Minister miniutely reviewed the various schemes of the department such as PUNCAMPA, Green Punjab Mission and Shaheed Bhagat Singh Haryaval Lehar and exhorted the officers to implement these with renewed vigour. Taking stock of the matters pertaining to promotions, suspensions and court cases connected with the department, the Minister directed that proper record of each case needs to be maintained apart from disposing off the issues discussed in this meeting before the next one.

The department should implement the initiative of providing uniforms to its employees and explore the possibility of starting toy train for children at the Chhatbir Zoo.

Among others present on the occasion included the Financial Commissioner (Forests) Vikas Garg, PCCF R.K. Mishra and the APCCF (Administration) Dharminder Sharma.
