Food and civil supplies department seizes truck loaded with illegal rice: Ashu

Chandigarh, October 5:

A truck of rice being brought to Punjab illegally from outer states for recycling/bogus billing was seized today by Food and Civil Supplies Department.

Disclosing this here today, Punjab Food and Civil Supplies Minister Bharat Bhushan Ashu said that the truck was seized in Ghanour constituency of Patiala district which contained 500 quintals of rice. He said that the truck left from Delhi’s Real Agro Food for Ambala’s Maa Bala Sundari Rice Mill but the department intercepted that it entered Punjab through internal roads.

Mr. Ashu informed that on the basis of the information, the department seized truck no. P.B. 03 Y 4756 and rice loaded in it and further investigation has been initiated in this regard.

He said that the department has directed the Punjab police to register an FIR in this regard.
