Food and Civil Supplies Minister directs due payments to truck operators by January 31

Date:

Chandigarh, January 5:

The Punjab Government led by the Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann stands fully committed to the welfare and raising the standard of living of every section of the society. This was reiterated by the Food, Civil Supplies and Consumer Affairs Minister Mr. Lal Chand Kataruchak here today at Anaj Bhawan in Sector 39 while presiding over a meeting with the truck operators.

The Minister directed the officials of the department to ensure due payments to the truck operators by January 31st, 2023 and issue instructions to all the districts so that this section of the society doesn’t encounter financial crunch. The Minister further exhorted the representatives to form a committee of 3 members which would discuss any issue with the Government in a forthright manner. Sooner, the trucks would be equipped with the GPS system to bring more transparency in the working mechanism.

The Minister assured to look with open mind into the various demands put forth by the representatives such as allotting tenders in the market committees to only the truck operators instead of the cluster system, strengthening the approach roads towards the godowns and increasing the S.O.R. rates.

Among others present on the occasion included the Director, Food, Civil Supplies and Consumer Affairs Amarpal Singh and Joint Director Dr. Anjuman Bhaskar.
