Chandigarh, January 31: Punjab Chief Minister Captain Amarinder Singh on Thursday asked the PSPCL chairman to look into the demand of freedom fighters for waiver of the condition of one kilowatt for availing facility of free domestic electricity up to 300 units.
At a meeting with a delegation of Freedom Fighters Successors Organisation, Punjab, the Chief Minister directed his Additional Principal Secretary to ensure early resolutions of their demands. The Chief Minister had convened the special meeting on the request of the members of organisation, which called on him at the Republic Day function in Patiala.
Responding to another demand of freedom fighters to allow their sons to avail free bus travel facility, as was already being extended to their unmarried daughters, the Chief Minister sought a report from the Principal Secretary Freedom Fighters on the issue.
The delegation also urged the Chief Minister to enhance the quota of jobs in Government, Boards, Corporations, Public Sector Undertakings, and admissions in educational institutions from one to five percent for the lineal descendants (son/daughter and grandsons) of the freedom fighters. They also demanded a special quota in promotion for their wards serving in the state Government.
Prominent amongst others who attended the meeting were Education Minister OP Soni, Principal Secretary Freedom Fighters V.K. Janjua, Principal Secretary to CM Tejveer Singh, Special Principal Secretary to CM Gurkirat Kirpal Singh and Additional Principal Secretary to CM Girish Dayalan.
